GET DIRTY IN DEVON

'Nothing like it', 'the best day of my life', 'unforgettable', are just some of the common phrases the Suzuki Off-Road Centre instructors hear all too often. It's not a bad thing of course, but there's only so much patting on the back two men can take.

Those two men are Andrew and Jim Savery, chief instructors and owners of the Suzuki Off-Road Centre at Wheeldon Farm near Totnes in Devon. Probably the most comprehensive off-road centre in the country, Wheeldon boasts a unique 30,000 square foot indoor track, a junior riding area, outdoor motocross track and thanks to its location in the rolling Devonshire countryside, hundreds of miles of green lanes.

Catering for riders from 7 - 70 years of age and with instructors that can teach a child to ride a bike for the very first time, through to ACU accredited coach's that can teach even a British championship rider a thing or two, Wheeldon can offer it all.

"We get quite disappointed to hear that winter gets in the way of people's riding", said Andrew Savery. "While the regular off-road riders tend to battle on through the colder months, many road riders put the bike away until the spring, but that's not the best idea. By riding in the winter, particularly off-road, you stay fresh on a bike, but importantly off-road riding teaches you new techniques and gives you greater confidence and control on a bike, benefiting road riding too."

With a full complement of the latest Suzuki off-road machinery, Wheeldon also provides a great opportunity to try a bike before you buy, including the very latest machines as they are launched. This combined with on-site accommodation, in the form of beautifully appointed, self catering cottages and an indoor swimming pool, the Suzuki Off-Road Centre really doesn't let a small problem like the winter get in the way of two-wheel fun.
